i made it to Cambodia!!! my home for the last 3 months of my race!

i’ll post more about what Cambodia is like, how HOT it is, how incredible the people are, and what God has been teaching me sometime soon but i wanted to make sure i got to talk about some of my favorite people from Guatemala first.

once again my heart is hurting a lot. loving deeply always seems so great until you have to say goodbye, then it hurts, a lot. and this was no exception. leaving guatemala i said goodbye to some of my favorite people but the people in these pictures were people i called my family. angel and elsa aka angelito payasito (marshmallow clown) and negrita (little black girl) don’t worry she gave me permission to call her this, quickly became second parents to me. they provided food for me, a bed when we had a sleepover, laughs, prayers, hugs, a jacket when it would get cold, and unconditional love just as my own parents would. and mishell who was and still is like a sister to me. mishell is a woman of comfort and selflessness. she made guatemala feel like home from prank calls at sleepovers to doing my hair. from back massages to sharing new food combos like cheetos with tortillas. she brought so much comfort and love. so leaving them hurt..but do i regret it? not even for a second. because once again i’m so thankful for these relationships that make leaving so hard and hurt so much. angel, elsa, and mishell i will always love you and i’m forever thankful for the love you gave me.

love,

fresita, payasita, gordita (little strawberry, little clown, little fat girl)

  1. Oh Britt you have such a loving heart. You touch people in a special way. It is a true gift from God. It makes me so proud and happy to read your blog. Can’t believe you will be home in three months! We miss you so much, but know you are following God’s plan for you. Keep shining your light. Love and kisses Nonnie and Papa

  2. Nice illustration of the relationships you formed gordita (yeah that one is going to stick:-) You definitely have the heart of a missionary.

  3. Good Monday morning from SC, my heart jumps for joy looking at you in the pictures and knowing how you have spread Gods love to all that have met you. Our teaching this week at church was the importance of baptism so my mind went back to the picture of you being baptized and being obedient to God’s word. That day you died to the old self and were transformed into a new life, what an exciting journey your Heavenly Father has entrusted to you. We don’t know what His plan is for your future but you are definitely on the right path. We’re so very proud of you and the beautiful women you have become in Christ. Love you!
